Leroy Burgess is one of the most criminally underrated artists on the whole black music scene. He has been one of the most prolific but consistently high quality artists since the start of the 70's. In his career he has worked with a huge array of artists, and yet released strangely few records under his own name. This site attempts to chronicle the life and works of the man with the uniquely identifiable voice and instantly recognisable keyboard riffs. Think of some of the greatest records in soul, disco and boogie history. Tracks like "Mainline" by Black Ivory, "Moment of My Life" by Inner Life, "Weekend" by Phreek and "I Know You Will" by Logg. Yep, Leroy was behind all of 'em. And that's just the more well known stuff. Dig a little deeper and you'll be surprised at just how much this man has been responsible for. Check the discographies to become an instant expert. Now, after an 8 year sabbatical, Leroy is back for the new millennium. The last 6 months has seen him back in the studio in both America and Europe, and working with new acts and some more established ones. Things are looking up for those of us in the know. Watch out, the best is yet to come! Jason
Thain. If you wanted to own every piece of vinyl that bore the name Leroy Burgess as either writer, lead singer, backing singer, producer, arranger, mixer, or keyboard player.............you would need to own records by all of the following (and I'm sure many others that even I've never heard of?):
