02 Inner Life - 'Moment Of My Life' Short 12" Vocal 5.15

As with many of the songs on this album, 'Moment Of My Life' was a cult underground record when first out in '82 but did not even attain a UK single release. Inner Life were a New York studio-based concept masterminded by producer Greg Carmichael and employed the talents of guests including Jocelyn Brown, Patrick Adams and Leroy Burgess. 'Moment Of My Life' was one of the choice cuts from their third LP (strangely entitled 'Inner Life II') and was remixed by NY Kiss FM DJ Shep Pettibone. The distinctive piano riff around which the song is built was re-utilised by Victor Simonelli on his still popular 'Do You Feel Me' from the early '90s. Michelle Weeks and Bobby D'Ambrosio took the song to an even greater audience with their straight cover version from '97.

12 Black Ivory - 'Mainline' 5.25

As Black Ivory, Leroy Burgess and Russell Patterson first released two albums on the Today label in the early '70s. Both produced by Patrick Adams before their most fruitful period with Buddah Records. Boasting one of the most unique voices in disco history, Leroy Burgess was also a talented songwriter, penning 'Mainline' alongside dancefloor classics like 'Moment Of My Life' and Phreek / Class Action's 'Weekend'. Taken from the album 'Hangin' Heavy', 'Mainline' has become a hugely influential disco record with the hi-hat led drum loop used on literally hundreds of house tracks. Burgess went on to enjoy huge success with Aleem in the 1980's.
