'Barely Breaking Even' Cover Finally Sees Light of Day

Look out for a forthcoming 'Various Artists compilation 'Connected Vol. 3 - 15 Years of Garage City' due in September. Hidden away on this mixed, double CD (triple vinyl) release is a remix of El Bee & Tee's (Leroy and his one-time collaborator Tyrone Williams) 'Barely Breaking Even' - which is of a course a cover of the renowned track by The Universal Robot Band.

Recorded circa 1988, in the same sessions that spawned El Bee & Tee's 'Big Time' & 'Over Like A Fat Rat' on Production House records, this track has never before been released in any format. The original sessions were arranged by London DJs, Bobby & Steve. Garage City is of course the name of their long-running club night.

The next release from the Chicago sessions?

dusttraxx.gif

Chicago's Dust Traxx Records (or their Night Life Collective sub-label) should finally be issuing something else from Leroy's Chicago sessions soon.

As well as Chez Damier's 'Your Love', Leroy also recorded with Harrison Crump, Mr. Ali, Ron Carroll, Glenn Underground, D.J. Quad, E-Smoove and Nick S when he was in the Windy City.

The first release will mostly likely be between the collaborations with Harrison Crump or Mr. Ali (aka Jere McAllister & Vic Lavender).

Well, good progress has been made with the tracks, and the boys are currently negotiating with several labels (which shall remain nameless for the time being). We hope to bring good news on this soon.

There's a long way to go yet, but initial preparations are underway, which could see the release of a brand new Black Ivory album, with several interesting guest appearances.

More on this, as and when things firm up.
