Notes:
Yet,
whatever Loleatta could do, Jocelyn Brown could match. Fronting the collective
Inner Life, the studio creation of cult producers Patrick Adams, Greg Carmichael
and Leroy Burgess, the group redefined 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' into
epic proportions. Seldom have 10-minutes ever sounded so electrifying, while
the 'Moment Of My Life' perfectly manages to fuse dance-floor functionality
with Jocelyn's rasping exotic wailing. Burgess, another native new Yorker,
has become the epitome of club trendiness over the years. As an artist, producer
and songwriter, his recordings are truly worthy of the cult status bestowed
upon him. Be it with Aleem, Intrique, Black Ivory or Logg, his 'sound' is
so distinct, almost archetypal of the genre many refer to as boogie, and Logg's
'I Know You Will' typifies this. A terrific no holds barred feel-good party-jam
exuding optimism and inspiration along its path, whilst Leroy's distinctive
phrasing is a joy to behold.
